The road to homeownership can often be an overwhelming process for a first time homebuyer. Homebuyer Education classes can help answer the many questions about buying a house! The online or in-person course helps familiarize you with the process of finding, financing, and purchasing your home, fulfilling possible loan requirements, and preparing yourself for closing on your home. The earlier in the home buying process you take the class, the more educated and informed a buyer you become.

- Calculating your debt to income ratio and an affordable mortgage payment
- What makes up your credit score and ways you can improve it
- Predatory lending and how you can avoid the traps

The Homebuyer Education is a requirement if you are planning to receive a MSHDA mortgage, down payment assistance from the City of Grand Rapids, use HOP funding from a participating lender, or buy a house from us! Both organizations below meet HUD requirements for homebuyer ed:
