What is your role?

I’m the Program Coordinator at New Development, which does mean I coordinate, but also a whole lot more! I manage the grant that allows us to make improvements possible for homeowners who otherwise would not be able to afford them. I handle outreach, homeowner communication, contracts, follow-up reporting, and overall making sure we dot our i’s and cross our t’s.

I work with homeowners directly, whether that means introducing them to other resources in the county, helping them apply for grants, or finding contractors to bid their work.

What motivates you?

Definitely people. Although it’s a cliché, I want to make the world a bit better, and since we spend so many hours working, it makes sense to put that time to good use!

What challenges you?

I like the variety in our work, but it can be challenging since it’s almost seasonal, with some months being much busier than others. Like Helen mentioned, more consistent funding would allow us to help homeowners more regularly, and get more people into their own homes.

If you had a superpower, what would you want it to be?

I’d like to speak every language, I think. Communication is so important in life, not just in our work, and I’d have such fun traveling and being able to talk to people around the world!
