Mission
Statement
Our
mission is to help build healthy neighborhoods by providing affordable
housing opportunities in the Belknap, Creston and Stocking neighborhoods
of Grand Rapids.
History
The New Development Corporation (NDC) was formed in 1998 by West Side activists to rehabilitate housing in Grand Rapids' west side Stocking area. Expanded in 2004 to include the Creston and Belknap areas, the name was changed to incorporate the new geography. New Development Corporation has developed a three-pronged approach to housing development and home ownership:
Homebuyer Education - Help families answer the many questions they may have and familiarize them with how to safely find, finance and purchase a home.
Housing Development - NDC purchases "stressed" homes and completes high
quality renovations to prepare the homes for sale to income eligible homebuyers.
